The third round of the 18ft Skiff grand prix started yesterday (8 September, 2001) in Portland Harbour and was dominated by RMW Marine

When the 18 foot Skiff sailors arrived at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on Saturday 8 September for round three of the Grand Prix series, the skies were grey and there were some heavy showers. By race time at 1330, however, the sun had broken through and the breeze had increased to over 20 knots.

Race one was dominated by the ‘RMW Marine’ team of Rob Greenhalgh, Dan Johnson and Jonny Meers, who stormed away from the opposition in such a convincing manner that it appeared they would be certain to achieve another clean sweep in this, the final round of the series. ‘White Stuff’, sailed as usual by Victor Brellisford, James Fawcett and Dave Smith, finished second and newcomers Toby Collyer, Stephen Homewood and Keith Willis took third place on ‘TBRS’.
