After two first-place finishes, Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen slip into second place

Nathan Outteridge insists he is coming to get what is rightfully his after seeing his 49er lead vanish at the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta on Thursday.

The Australian 49er sailor, alongside partner Iain Jensen, had led the London 2012 test event ever since two first-place finishes on day one. That was until the Spanish boat took the lead with just two more fleet races to go before Saturday’s medal race.

The Australian duo are now one point behind in second but Outteridge is adamant it’s all still to play for on England’s south coast.

“We messed up in the second race and that means we have lost our lead but it could have been far worse so we aren’t getting caught up about it,” he said. “We will go out there and do our best again to make up the points that we lost and we are still confident.”
