David Glenn - EditorDavid Glenn - deputy editor

David has been cruising since he was eight. Before joining Yachting World in 1979 he cruised extensively in Brittany, south-west England, Scotland and Scandinavia. He has chartered all over the world, throughout the Caribbean, in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, the Seychelles and many parts of the Mediterranean. He's competed in two Fastnet races, the Newport to Bermuda Race, countless Cowes Weeks, legs of the Clipper round the world race, the Atlantic Brazil Caribbean rally and the Europa Round the World Rally. He regularly competes in the Antigua Classic Regatta and regattas in the Mediterranean including the Voiles de St Tropez. He manages the SuperSail section of the magazine, large yacht features and Yachts news.

Matthew Sheahan - Racing & Technical EditorMatthew Sheahan - racing editor

Matthew is Yachting World's Racing & Technical Editor. He attended the Southampton Institute where he qualified as a yacht designer and, before joining Yachting World, worked for the spar maker Proctor. He has a wide experience of top level racing which puts him in a good position to run the racing coverage for the magazine.

Elaine Bunting - Features EditorElaine Bunting - features editor

Elaine has been sailing since the age of six. She began racing dinghies and later crewed on a variety of quarter and half-tonners in club events and regattas throughout the UK.

Elaine qualified as an RYA sailing instructor in her teens and has taught sailing in the UK, Ireland and the USA. She has cruised throughout the UK, Ireland and the Mediterranean and has crossed the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Pacific and Red Sea, and has sailed from South America to Antarctica.

Toby Hodges - Features WriterToby Hodges - features writer

Toby has sailed with his family on various craft since his earliest memories allow, before racing and teaching on dinghies in Devon throughout his school years. After completing his English Degree he became a deckhand aboard superyachts - sailing in the Med, Red Sea, UAE, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic and gaining his Yachtmaster qualification.

In 2001 he received a scholarship with IPC marine magazines and spent five years writing for Yachting Monthly, before leaving his post as Technical Editor to spend a year down under. As Features Writer Toby is responsible for the boat testing programme, as well as the gear section of the magazine, including New Gear and more extensive gear and equipment articles.

Belinda Bird - Production EditorBelinda Bird - production editor

Belinda has been a key part of the Yachting World team since joining in the mid-1980s. Handling the smooth running of copy and photographs between art department, repro house and printers.

Robert Owen - Art Editor     Robert Owen - art editor

Robert has been Yachting World's Art Editor since 1992 having previously worked in this role for Boat International, The Field and Shooting Times. He was trained at art college in Southend-on-Sea before travelling the world working on large yachts in the Mediterranean. He was IPC Media Designer of the Year in 1994 and 2000 and is a keen photographer and ornithologist.

Maggie Nelson - Editorial Artist Maggie Nelson - editorial artist

Since 1983 Maggie has been responsible for all the illustration and graphic artistry appearing in both Yachting World and Motorboat and Yachting magazines. A wizard on Adobe Illustrator, Maggie served her apprenticeship in the technical drawing office of British Aerospace and spends her spare time studying Egyptology.

Vanda Woolsey - Picture Editor  Vanda Woolsey - picture editor

Vanda was the picture archivist for Northern Ireland's 'Historic Monuments & Buildings' before moving to Russia where she lectured for a couple of years, travelling extensively. On her return to the UK, she was a photographer's assistant for a major picture agency in London, trained as a radio reporter freelancing for the BBC, before moving across to write for magazines, though she's now back to her pictorial background.

Helen Dormer - Editorial Assistant Helen Bowley - editorial assistant

Helen learned to sail on the family Topper, but it wasn't until backpacking around New Zealand that she stepped onto her first yacht and immediately caught the bug. Since then she has cooked, crewed and skippered on charter-boats, superyachts, yacht deliveries and racing boats in New Zealand, Australia, the Med and the UK.

 Alan Warren - Advertisement Manager
Alan joined Yachting World in 1978. His knowledge of the magazine and the industry is second to none. Alan's passion for the sport can be seen by the broad spectrum of sailing that he participates in. He successfully campaigns his Graduate at Chipstead Sailing Club and can be found in various locations around the world chartering, cruising or racing.

Michael Beattie - Assistant Advertisement Manager

From Australia Michael joined the Yachting World ad team in 2000. Before moving to the magazine he was working for The Daily Telegraph newspaper. He has raced extensively around the world in events such as Antigua Sailing Week, Cowes Week, Swan Worlds, Fastnet Race and Le Voiles de St Tropez, on a variety of yachts from Maxis and Swans down to keelboats. His other sporting passion is snow skiing.

Jay Nolan - Senior Sales Executive

Jay joined Yachting World in 2007, returning home after several years living overseas. He grew up with the marine industry and has worked for boating organisations and sailing magazines in the UK and the States. At university, Jay was a keen dinghy racing skipper but now prefers fair weather sailing and the more leisurely side of boating. In the off-season, like Michael, he's a fanatical skier. You'll know him right away as he sounds like an Australian/English American/Canadian.

Simon Spong - Senior Sales Executive

Simon joined the Yachting World ad sales team in September 2006 after spending six years working on our sister publication Yachting Monthly. Simon has sailed on the South Coast and in the West Country in the UK and has also chartered in Mexico. If you are interested in talking about cricket and rugby then Simon is your man.

Fiona Ismail - Advertisement Assistant

Fiona joined IPC Media back in 2001 and moved to the Yachting World team in 2003. If you call the main Yachting World ads number you will probably speak with Fiona. When she has finished an exhausting day organising everyone in the office she can usually be found at one of London's many theatres. Fiona works Monday to Wednesday.

Pat Brook - Production Manager

Without doubt Pat is the engine room of the magazine. Her production expertise ensures the magazine makes it to the news stand each month. Pat's vast experience comes from a career working across a variety of media including international newspapers and a broad mix of magazines. She can be seen tapping her feet along to jazz and blues.

Yachting World contributors

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston
Sir Robin holds an STCW Class 1 Certificate - formerly known as a Master's Certificate - from his 14 years in the Merchant Navy. He has had a very distinguished sailing career and is Britain's best-known yachtsman. In 1968, sailing his 32ft traditional ketch Suhaili, he became the first person to circumnavigate singlehanded, non-stop and without assistance. He has competed in many fully crewed and short handed races including the Whitbread, Admiral's Cup singlehanded transatlantic and Round Britain races and his most recent achievement was to co-skipper the giant catamaran ENZA New Zealand with the late Sir Peter Blake when she broke the Jules Verne Trophy for sailing round the world sailing non-stop.

Sir Robin is also Chairman of Clipper Ventures which runs the Clipper round the world races for amateurs, and also the 5-Oceans single handed around the world race which will take place in 2006.

Sir Robin contributes a regular column and the occasional feature to Yachting World.
