It’s hard to get much of a sense of what’s going on in the fleet, let alone a taste, since all the skippers have is VHF radio. Nor were there many updates from their time in Madeira.

But one skipper who did manage to post a video showing life at full speed in his 21ft rocket ship – and lots of annoying halyard problems – was Penzance sailor Andrew Wood.
