In support of the new Cowes Week logo

Hey, I’ve been sent an email in support of the new Cowes Week logo I criticised . Here it is:

‘I like the Cowes Week logo – possibly because I did most of my Solent sailing in the Seventies (Sixties?). One evening I was on my Hunter 19 moored on the Hamble piles doing a bit of varnishing. 50 yards away on the new Knox Johnson marina was the prime minister of the day quietly doing a bit of sandpapering on Morning Cloud. I didn’t see any security men. We looked up, nodded at each other and got on with our work.

‘I do not despise that period, when the Hamble River Sailing club had 15 cruisers and 25 dinghies out every Wednesday evening and the pub at Bucklers Hard served drinks by candlelight because of the power cuts caused by the miners’ strike. It was lovely!
