That’s what I call a world championship: 419 sailors lined up ready to launch for the biggest ever Laser regatta, the Laser Masters Worlds in Spain last week. The difference is that this was dedicated to sailors aged 35 and over.

There was even a ‘Great Grand Master’s class’ for the over 65s (men and women) – and it had 54 entries. How impressive is that?

Who’s the Grandaddy? US sailor Peter Seidenberg was crowned champion Great Grand Master. He’s been racing Lasers for 34 years. Top man.
