Sunday at Skandia Cowes Week

Yesterday's first day of class racing was heralded as a great success. With fantastic blue skies and sunny conditions, both competitors and spectators alike were in high spirits back on shore. The Skandia Cowes Week fleet - after a number of spectacular starts - made the most of the breeze and hope for more of the same today. But be sure to don a hat. Temperatures are forecast to reach 25° Celsius.

Wind

06:00 - 09:00 variable mainly E-SE (8-13 knots)
09:00 - 12:00 S-SE (8-13 knots) veering S
12:00 - 15:00 S becoming SW (8-13 knots)
15:00 - 18:00 SW (10-15 knots)

Gusts are likely to be 1/3rd as high again above the average wind speed.

If you are visiting Cowes today be sure to check out the Parade where you can sign up for Skandia's Try Sailing lessons. The lessons are organised in association with the UKSA and allow members of the public to try their hand at sailing free of charge (donations can be made to the Ellen MacArthur Trust).

At 6 o'clock tonight try not to miss the prize giving ceremony for the iShares Cup at Skandia Cowes Week taking place at Shepards Wharf.
