Order Sorted in Louis Vuitton Cup
If you were busy brewing a cuppa as the big match of the day was getting underway, the chances are that you missed all the action. It was brief and happened early in the head to head between the big dogs, Emirates Team New Zealand and BMW Oracle Racing. Indeed, the match was over before the first weather mark when, just a third of the way up the beat, the Kiwis hooked into a big right hand shift while Chris Dickson's team careered headlong for the left.
Just a few minutes into the first leg and it was starting to become clear that the American team had made a big mistake, a 54 second mistake by the weather mark.
From there on, the race became a procession, the kind of which we had expected in the match between Dickson's team and the China Team.
But, as the BMW Oracle skipper confirmed later in a press conference, "the left hand side wasn't so good, the right hand side was very good," he said with his trademark bluntness.
"Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if we were to do the same race we'd probably do the same thing."
According to Dean Barker the call that came from their weather team was changed late in the play but, 'came through very clearly and quickly. They wanted the right.' He said.
They were indeed right and gained the right to chose their opponent for the next round. Once again the Kiwis find themselves on top at the end of a round.
